Fox News managed to avoid a protracted legal battle and airing of dirty laundry by reaching a nearly $800 million settlement with Dominion Voting Systems. The result is a payout to Dominion totaling about one fifth of the cash Fox News has on hand, but that may not be all. The most prominent being from Smartmatic, another much larger company that builds and implements voting systems. Smartmatic has issues with the way Fox characterized their role in 2020 and have decided to sue for a sphincter tightening $2.7 billion. We know a lot less about the Smartmatic case and how strong it is, but I imagine after seeing the Dominion settlement their lawyers are feeling pretty good about their chances.
